TEA TREE OIL

Tea Tree Oil is produced from Melaleuca alternifolia, an Australian native paper bark tree. Forest Glen Organic Farm is a working plantation where the tea trees are harvested annually. There is no season as such, but harvesting is at opportunity, as dictated by the weather. The harvest, in our situation designed to be a single person activity, spans several months due to the volume of tree to be harvested and the amount of serial work attached to the process.

The owners, Trevor and Amanda, grow tea trees on about 20 hectares of the 62.45 ha property and they will be happy to show you the workings of the farm on an organised day tour (eco-tour) or during your stay.

LEARNING

We provide plentiful opportunities to view the processes involved, from cutting/mulching during harvesting to the steam distillation process, which immediately follows the harvest, to release the oils.

The option of visiting our property on a day tour (eco- tour) allows you to see first hand how our organic farm operates. For an ecotour, the larger the group the cheaper it is, on a per head basis.
