WILDLIFE

Forest Glen Organic Farm and Farmstay sits in the the NSW Bungwalbyn Wetlands, which is home to hundreds of different species of birds, mammals, reptiles and insects. The billabong attracts an array of wildlife, which includes birds, tortoises, fascinating insects and more. On dry land, you will readily see other bird species and mobs of 'roos relaxing in the grassy shade. If you look harder you may come across echidnas, goannas, water dragons and other lizards, as well as a variety of frogs. Oh, not to mention the vast array of insects and spiders. The nocturnal visitors include possums, bandicoots and microbats.

The scenic surroundings and inhabitants make Forest Glen Organic Farm a gem in the Northern New South Wales and SE Queensland areas. Consult one of our wildlife books to learn more about local wildlife and where to find it.

BIRDS

We have catalogued over one hundred bird varieties that either live on or visit the farm. Some of the more spectacular include swans, black cockatoos, pheasant coucal, eagles, kites and hawks, herons and egrets, with the occasional jabiru and brolga. Many finches and wrens can be seen in the bush. Many of the birds are seasonal visitors, but many live most of the year, if not all year, on the property. Bring your own camera and binoculars.

MAMMALS

Horses roam the property and welcome a pat from our visitors. The kangaroos graze close-by and you can see them hopping around the farm or lazing on the lawns nearly every day. Look at night time and you may see possums or microbats searching for food. Look for other marsupials such as bandicoots, antechinus and echidnas.

REPTILES & INSECTS

If you look carefully for smaller creatures such as reptiles and insects, you are bound to find plenty at Forest Glen Organic Farm and Farmstay. Tree frogs, snakes, moths and butterflies, various beetles, interesting caterpillars and more can all be found on the property day and night. Look carefully at the ground and the plants to see some of these creatures.
